Solid-state Polymerization (SSP) System
Solid state polymerization (SSP) is an efficient way to increase the intrinsic viscosity of PET, which applies to PET bottle and industrial yarn production.
After extrusion, PET chips or flakes are amorphous. Therefore, prior to solid-state polymerization (SSP), crystallization plays an important part in the whole process. PET chips or flakes are heated evenly in the crystallizer in order to reduce their moisture content and increase their crystallinity, which ensures the quality of product.
The PET chips or flakes are transferred to a polymerization (SSP) reactor and kept in the reactor for a period of time, through which molecules are put together to re-form the polymer chains and molecular weight increases. So the intrinsic viscosity of chips or flakes can achieve the required level and the mechanical properties are also improved. The longer the chain is, the higher the molecular weight is, and so is the IV.
At the same time, the PET chips are decontaminated.
Our Solid-state Polymerization (SSP) System can be divided into two types: continuous SSP and batch SSP.

Processing Equipment includes:
a) Crystallizer: Chip achieves high degree and evenness crystallinity and can avoid agglomeration.
b) Preheater: Chip is heated up to SSP reaction temperature. Meanwhile, chip viscosity is partially increased.
c) Reactor: Chip will reach target I.V. it is viable to adjust process conditions for producing different kinds of product.
d) Chip Cooler: cooling down chips temperature as per requirement.
e) Chip Conveying device: several kinds of conveying device can be supplied to conveying chips to different working procedure.
f) Nitrogen Purification Unit: recycling Nitrogen from the SSP reactor will be purified and compounds impurity can be removed effectively.
g) Electrical control system: monitoring and recording data.
